The Emmet County Road Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer-Manager. The position is responsible for recommending policy and procedures to the Road Commission Board as well as general oversight of all Road Commission operations.
Ideal candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience and/or understanding of the various aspects of Road Commission operations including, but not limited to road and bridge construction and maintenance; project planning and development; human resource management; union labor relations and contract negotiations; transportation financing and budgeting. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of Michigan Transportation Funding as well as other local, state, and federal highway financing. Candidates also should have a thorough understanding of Transportation Asset Management.
Required qualifications include possession of a Professional Engineering license and/or a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Business, or Public Administration. Additionally, candidates must have at least 5 years of supervisory experience in engineering, road maintenance, and/or governmental finance.
